Studio

My studio is located at my home in Saranac Lake, NY.
All of my pottery is made by hand on a wheel. It is allowed to partially dry and is then returned to the wheel upside down to be trimmed.

I fire my pottery in an oxidation atmosphere in an electric kiln. Every piece is fired twice; first to about 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit, after which it is glazed and fired to about 2,200 degrees. Winter is cold here, so there is the added bonus of heating the house when pottery is fired!

The glazes that I use have been formulated through information in books, other potters generously sharing information, and my own experimentation. I am always evolving and changing the glazes I use, so if I no longer use one that you like, maybe there is a new one you will like better.

I would be happy to have you visit my studio if you're in town. Just contact me in advance so I can make arrangements to be there.
